The Liberian Education Fund (L.E.F) was founded by high school student, Kim Ouillette, in December 2006. Kim is now in college in Washington D.C. but is still a very big part of the fund. The organization was helped set up by Stan Stalla, a resident of Northport who was working for USAID in Liberia. Stan set up a direct contact for the organization, Joe Hoover Gbadyu, a citizen of Liberia and an employee of USAID. Every year, Joe has selected a number of prospective students from five counties in Liberia, a tuition of $125 per student per semester is then sent to Joe that covers textbooks, uniforms and a daily lunch. Through the past 3 years the fund has supported up to 12 students per semester. Out of these six have graduated.

Now working in Belfast is a group of eight high school students. Maya French, Ilyse Laurel, Sage Norberg, Aleka Greeley, Clare Olson, Emma Bonneville, Lila Carpenter and Jane Ouillette.

We host several fundraisers each year including concerts, dances, raffles and dinners.
